Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia on 17 February 2008 and Saudi Arabia recognised it on 20 April 2009. On 22 December 2009, Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Abdulaziz presented his credentials to Kosovar President Fatmir Sejdiu.
